Renewable, non-renewable energy consumption and economic growth nexus in G7: fresh evidence from CS-ARDL

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study investigates the effects of renewable energy (REN) consumption and non-renewable (NREN) on economic growth in G7 countries with annual data covering period 1980–2016 using a new panel estimator that provides robust results under cross-sectional dependence, slope heterogeneity, can be used whether series are integrated different orders. In addition, causality between variables is analyzed bootstrap Granger method takes dependency heterogeneity into account. According to Cross-sectionally Augmented Autoregressive Distributed Lag (CS-ARDL) results, coefficients REN NREN positive statistically significant both short- long-run. Furthermore, has greater impact enhancing than consumption. The analysis reveals hypothesis (GH) valid Canada, Italy, USA; neutrality France, Japan, UK; feedback (FE) for only Germany. For NREN, GH Germany; conservation (CH) Italy UK. Finally, FH Japan USA.

Economic Growth and Renewable Energy in Iran

Energy plays an active role in sustainable development in Iran, both in the sustainable and the development aspects. This study aims to estimate the nexus of economic growth and the renewable energy in Iran during 1981-2012. We employ the Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to estimate a log-linear equation. The results suggest that renewable energy consumption is an insignificant driv...

Examining the renewable energy consumption-economic growth nexus in sub-Saharan African countries

Given the role renewable energy is likely to play in the context of sustainable development, it is important to understand the relationship between renewable energy and economic growth. Therefore, this paper examines the relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic growth in a panel of sub-Saharan Africa countries from 1990-2011. Using a production function framework, the depe...

Renewable Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Co2 Emissions: Evidence from Selected Mena Countries

This paper uses panel cointegration techniques to examine the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic growth and CO2 emissions for a group of 12 MENA countries covering the annual period 1975-2008. The Granger-causality results indicate that there is no causal relationship between these variables in short run except a unidirectional causality running from renewable en...

Investigating the effect of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on social welfare in developing Asian countries: Quantile regression approach

Energy as one of the factors of production along with labor and capital has an important role in development and social welfare. Due to the pollution of non-renewable resources and its negative impact on welfare, the use of renewable resources can improve social welfare by eliminating pollutants. In this study, the effect of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on social welfare of de...
